Weekly News Update: June 19

Hello folks! Here’s some updates on the latest goings-on at Harmony & Health Foundation.

STAYING COOL

We extend a thanks to Wind Spirit Community and Don, who donated a spare pool to us. We’ll be picking a spot, setting it up, and enjoying it over the next couple weeks.

MARKET

We’ve been taking a varying selection of fruits, cookies, plants, garlic and eggs to sell at the Santa Cruz River Farmer’s Market. (Located at San Agustin Mercado from 4 pm to 7 pm and managed by the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.) Yesterday was our best afternoon yet! We sold delicious organic apples – a surplus from our neighbors Kokopelli Gardens – and cookies: chocolate chips, dried cranberries, cherries, and blueberries.

WILDLIFE

The javelina have been active in our area recently. We have yet to spot one as they only come near our habitations at night, but we hear evidence in the dogs’ barking and see evidence in tipped over compost buckets! We have several Horned Toad Lizards keeping us company, and the gorgeous mesquite beetles joined us for our Second Sunday Brunch a few days ago. We can truly call it summer because the frogs and toads have returned.
