Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious. ~Ruth Reichl
Harmony and Health is special among other non-profits, because we are also a community. When the people who are working towards a common vision are also neighbors who support one another, there are no limits.
I know there is strength in the differences between us. I know there is comfort where we overlap. ~Ani DiFranco
HUBS
There are three main hubs of activityZ
on “The Land.” Harmony and Health is one hub. TerraSante Village is our neighboring eco-village, founded by Bruce Scher in 2008. Kokopelli Gardens is run by Victoria and Tim White. Bruce Kofel and Brian McCue are also landowners and partners in our sustainable community venture.
TERRA SANTE
our neighbor
TerraSante, meaning “sacred earth” in Latin, is an appropriate name for a community in this area. The land has been considered sacred by the Tohono O’odham, Pasqua Yaqui, and other pre-western civilizations. TerraSante Village is a non-profit community dedicated to experiments in sustainable living in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. Its mission is to serve as a laboratory and community resource for projects in permaculture, agriculture, ecological housing, solar and renewable energy, water conservation, and community development. Like Harmony and Health, TerraSante promotes a vision of sustainability in which we can satisfy the needs of today while ensuring the ability of future generations to do the same. The residents believe that it is possible to build a society in which the patterns of activity are in harmony with the ability of nature to sustain life. The community seeks creative, knowledgeable, skilled persons as volunteers and members. Visit TerraSante’s website, www.terrasante.org, for more information.
Kokopelli Gardens is based around the enormous medicinal and nutritional value of moringa – nature’s miracle tree. Victoria and Tim are gardeners, solar enthusiasts, and proponents of structured water. In fact, they are the largest distributor in the world of structured water units. Visit the Kokopelli Gardens website, www.moringatreeoflife.com, for more information.
